All About Pay Per Click Affiliate Programs
If you've read my article called "putting affiliate programs on your site", then you'll know what affiliate programs actually are. But what about pay per click affiliate programs specifically?
What Are Pay Per Click Affiliate Programs ?
Pay per click affiliate programs pay you every time someone clicks through to an advertisers website. You could describe google adsense as a pay per click affiliate program, but adsense is different as it offers contextual advertertising, i.e the google adsense bot reads your pages and determines what ad would suit that page best, based on what is written on that page.
Why Should I Use Pay Per Click Affiliate Programs On My Site?
Well you don't have to, but if your site is content based and you don't sell any actual products or services, it's recommended. But I'll tell you why you should use pay per click affiliate programs over regular affiliate programs.
With regular affiliate programs, you have to do a lot of pre-selling, such as writing a newsletter (Which is recommended for any site anyway), building up a lot of rapport and trust and that can take quite a lot of time. If you haven't set up you're system of building rapport properly, you might not even see any results.
However, with
pay per click affiliate programs you don't have to do any of that if you don't want to. Just build up a page talking about the product or service you're an affiliate of, and slap the code you'll be given somewhere in the page where it will be highly visible, and you should get a decent amount of click through to it.
Make sure the content of that page is high quality, if it isn't no-one's going to read through it , get to your ads and click on them, are they.
For maximum effect you should make that page search engine optimized for popular key word relating to the product/service/ad that you're trying to get people to click on.
Where Can I See An Example Of A Pay Per Click Affiliate Program?
Right here of course :)
<insert chitika ad here>
The above is an example of a chitika pay per click affiliate program. That ad was manually selected, so it completely complies with the google adsense terms and conditions. Each time someone clicks on that ad, I'll earn money and you can too. It's completely free to join (As all decent affiliate programs should be). You can select any ad that's available, obviously only select ads that you think will appeal to your site audience, otherwise no-one is going to click on them.
What Types Of Keywords/Products Pay The Most Per Click?
Firstly, you should be ethical about this. Only choose keywords that are actually relevant to your site's topic, otherwise you'll be spamming the search engines and your site visitors, with irrelevant content that they really don't have any interest in, you'll look very unprofessional and will lose a lot of respect.
Top paying keywords are quite obvious if you think about it a bit. Mortgage/loan products will bring the most money, followed by "make money online" and "home business" type keywords.
If you're using chitika then those keywords above might not be available, but anything with a high ticket price or profit margin will get you a high cost per click. For example, an ad about a car seller will pay way more than an ad about pencils.
So choose your keywords carefully.
