Lesson 3: Finding The Right Website Creation Software
In this article I'll talk about what makes a good piece of website creation software. There is a lot to choose from, so you'll need help finding out what's best for you.
Again the question comes up, are you going to pay for it, or are you going to use a free one?
This time, if you're paying for the software, it's not going to be cheap. However, your choice is broad, you can find ones that cost $30 or you can spend $300, sometimes even more than that. It all depends on your budget and what you're going to be using it for.
As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
With free software sometimes you'll need to know html to do a lot of things, but this isn't always the case, you'll have to do a bit of searching and find out.
With most, paid for software, you can just drag and grop and type on the page without even knowing any html really. That's the main advantage of the paid option.
Almost all website creation software packages will have help files with them, so should you ever get stuck, it shouldn't be difficult to find help.
Here's a few reviews of some that I've used:
Evrsoft First Page 2006:
This website creation tool is great. You can edit in WYSIWYG mode (What you see is what you get), this means that you don't have to know much about HTML to get your first website started. It's the first one I ever used and I loved it. It's completely free to use with no trial period. It's also got hundreds of scripts that you can use on your website, such as clocks, calculators, forms and a ton of other stuff.
Coffee Free HTML:
Another free website creation tool. This one also has no trial period, so you can use it for as long as you like. However there is no what you see is what you get mode on the free version, so it's not really a step up from Evrsoft's First Page 2006.
Koala Edit:
This one is still free, with no trial period, and it DOES give you the option of a what you see is what you get mode. Fairly simple and easy to use, it's a step up from Coffee Free HTML, but it's second best to Evrsoft First Page 2006 in my opinion.
Here's a few software packages you should take a look at :
